UncategorizedBombshell: Former Mexican president accepted $100 million bribe from drug kingpin

A former associate of the Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman claimed in court that Guzman paid former Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto a bribe of $100 million.

The associate, Alex Cifuentes, testified that Nieto asked Guzman for $250 million while he was president-elect in 2012 and that Nieto had sent Guzman a message that he no longer had to live in hiding.

Nieto has previously denied that he’d accepted bribes from drug traffickers and had no comment on the testimony.

Nieto served as Mexico’s president between 2012 and 2018. Guzman was captured by Nieto’s government in 2014 and extradited in 2017 for charges of drug trafficking.
